Description: Following closely the German translation of the prosecution's opening statement are these seven defendants of fourteen in the RuSHA Case VIII, commonly known as the "race and settlement" case. In the front row are the defendants (left to right) Ulrich Greifelt formerly a Lt. General in the SS, Lt. General of the Police, and Chief of the Main Staff Office for the strengthening of Germanism (RKFDV); Rudolf Creutz formerly a Senior Colonel in the SS and Deputy to Greifelt; Konrad Meyer-Hetling formerly a Senior Colonel in the SS; (back row left to right) Gregor Ebner formerly a Senior Colonel in the Tesch formerly a Major in the SS and Chief of the Main Legal Department of Lebensborn; and Inge Viermetz formerly Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Lebensborn. These defendants are charged by the prosecution with having delibertly exterminated thousands of persons in occupied countries who did not meet Hitler's standards of Germanising.
