| Description: Former Brig. Gen. Erwin Lahousen, wartime deputy to
Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, Chief of the German Counter-Intelligence
Service, shown in the witness box as he testified against 12
German generals and one admiral on trial as war criminals at
Nuernberg. The 51 year-old Austrian born officer appeared as a
prosecution witness against Gen. Hermann Reinecke, Chief of the
Wehrmacht prisoner of war affairs bureau. The other defendants
were field commanders, with the exception of Admiral Otto
Schniewind, German navy staff officer, who directed U-boat
