| 2 This precis would evolve eventually into the final script for Judgment at Nuremberg, which aired on the CBS television program "Playhouse 90" on Thursday, April 16th, 1959 (9:30 pm to 11:00 pm EST). Telford Taylor narrated the program and served as its technical advisor. This teleplay was directed by George Roy Hill (1921-2002) and featured such actors as Maximilian Schell (1930-) as a skillful German lawyer, Paul Lukas (1895-1971) as a former Minister of Justice and Claude Rains (1889-1967) as an American jurist. (See, Shanley, John P., "Nuremberg Judgment," New York Times (April 17, 1959): 53.) In 1961, this television screenplay was adapted into a motion picture directed by Stanley Kramer (1913-2001), and included such movie stars as Spencer Tracy (1900-1967), Burt Lancaster (1913-1994), Richard Widmark (1914-), Maximilian Schell (1930-), Montgomery Clift (1920-1966), Judy Garland (1922-1969), and Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992).
